The South African Students Congress (SASCO) is currently engaged in a nation-wide free education march. The mass action will conclude with a national march tomorrow, 25 July 2013, Thursday in Pretoria. SASCO members and supporters will assemble in their numbers at the Tshwane City Hall at 9:00am and will march to the Department of Higher Education and Training (123 Francis Baard Street) in Pretoria, Gauteng. SASCO President Ngoako Selamolela will address the march and deliver the memorandum of demands to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DhET) on behalf of students.
The march will receive messages of support from the leadership of the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCL SA) National Deputy Chairperson Mawethu Rune, Congress of South African Students (COSAS) President General Collen Malatji, the African National Congress Youth League (ANC YL) National Convener Mzandile Masina and the National Union of Metalworkers (NUMSA) Youth Desk. We urge all and sundry to join us as we declare that ‘Education is a birthright, Free Education is a necessity’.
