3 September 2012
The South African Students Congress (SASCO) will join the activities of the global week of action in solidarity with the people of Swaziland from the 3rd- 07th September 2012. We shall do so because we understand that the people of Swaziland like the entirety of humanity deserve a democratic right to elect a government of their own choosing.
This has become an urgent issue since the Monarch has plagued the country into crisis of one sort after the other. The people of Swaziland continue to live in abject poverty whilst the king and his associates continue to live lavish lifestyles.
As part of the activities of the global week of action on Swaziland, we shall join other progressive organisations in a march to the consulate of the monarch in Braamfontein, Johannesburg on 05th and 07th September 2012. The organisation will furthermore arrange lectures on the question of Swaziland at the University of Johannesburg.
Students and society in general are encouraged to participate in the activities of the global week in an attempt to assist the people of Swaziland in their struggle for democracy. Lest we forget that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We owe it to humanity!!
